Prescott Farmers’ Market
By ktcosmos on Jun 25, 2007 in Community
Even though its location has changed a few times since its inception, the Prescott Farmers’ market is one of the joys of the warm months in our town.
In May there are a few local growers who have greens, radishes, and turnips for sale, but there are also many wonderful bedding plants to be found. There are baked goods, tamales, dog treats, lotions, and soaps. The vendors come from Phoenix, Flagstaff, and some other places around Arizona.
There is always a community booth in which a new vendor or nonprofit can give selling a whirl to see if the Market will become a good outlet for vending.
Once the onslaught of produce makes its way to the market, local chefs prepare wonderful treats from items they select that morning from various booths.
The market is open from 7:30 until about noon and is located at Yavapai College. The easiest way to find it is to take the main entrance to Yavapai College on East Sheldon and drive in with an eye out for white canopies. It’s a pet and children-friendly atmosphere, and you can even take a pet -home if you decide to adopt one from the United Animal Friends booth.
In mid summer it can get pretty hot out there in the parking lot, so wear a hat and sunscreen. Maybe even total along a chair so you can sit and listen to the live entertainment.
Bring a little cash, some bags for toting your items home and come out to one of the nicest gathering spots in the area.
